A Lovely Little Adventure A Duck

0

Over the past week, England has experienced a rare phenomena. It began around Tuesday and lasted a good few days and Im taking the guess that it will most likely disappear again for a while - as always. Although us English folk arent completely unknowing of this experience, whenever it does come and say hello, we truly take advantage of it (well at least try to).

What is it you ask? Nice weather! Blue skies, sunshine and warmth. Yes, its actually been somewhat warm and I have gone out of the house without a coat; thats coming from someone who has been wrapped up in a big winter coat until this week. However, I wouldnt exactly say my few items of clothing I recently picked up suit the warmer weather (oh how I love my jumpers).

Arches over a river
Reservoir

Like I said, nice weather isnt really that rare for us but it sometimes feels like it with the amount of rainy grey days we get and after the first week of my Easter holidays, being day after day of those dreary days, it was so nice to get outside. I always find it so funny how as soon as we get some sun, everybody seems to be outside, instead of the streets looking like a ghost town, and everywhere you turn you see a man without a shirt on or that smell of a barbecue in the air.

Young boy holding a stick and water
Stone throwing into water
(One of my brothers seems to have an obsession with picking up sticks - he must have been a dog in a previous life)

My family and I decided to go for a lovely walk around a reservoir and have a picnic. Well I say picnic, but it wasnt the stereotypical checked blanket and wicker basket. It was more the case of a reusable shopper bag, slightly squished sandwiches thanks to my mammoth water bottle and having to stand up as my brother decided to take up practically all of the bench. Not very picture worthy, so instead lets look at a duck.

Duck

Also, Im come to realise I frickin love trees! Whenever Im surrounded by them, I feel so calm, relaxed and happy. Im able to just let my mind wander and I dont get that alone feeling I get when walking down a street. Come on, just look at how beautiful this tree is!

Twisted tree

My dad told me of a wood, not so far away, were you can venture off the path - it is definitely in my plans to do!

The birds as well. I just love watching them hop along and then fly off. Have you ever just stopped and listened to bird calls? This is something I did only a few weeks ago and dont you think its weird that they are having somewhat of a conversation?

How did you spend the days of glorious weather?

How To Use A Blog To Increase Organis Traffic

0

There are many great reasons for businesses to blog but one clearly stands out, increasing your keyword rankings and growing your organic search traffic.

The number of terms that a website can rank for is directly related to the size of the site. More indexed pages means more opportunities for keywords. For most small and medium sized businesses, there is a limit to the number of pages that can fit onto site before it becomes bloated and hard to navigate. Once youve reached youre limit for services, products, case studies, etc, its time to start getting serious about creating blog content.

More often than not, the difference between a 50 page website and a 500+ page site is a blog. Because of this, blogging is an absolutely essential practice for SEO and traffic building.

The biggest objection I typically hear when I bring up the idea of blogging is, "what am I supposed to write about?" The answer, write about your keywords. Since youll be using your blog to write about your industry and niche, it will be a natural place to create content around long tail keywords (view this article to learn more about long tail keywords).
As an example, lets say you want to increase the amount of traffic coming to your site for searches related to the term "blog." Follow the steps below.

1) Identify keywords (be realistic)

Lets face it, unless youre Blogger (which is owned by Google), Wikipedia, or WordPress, youre not going to be taking the #1 search engine result for the term "blog" anytime soon. Thats okay, you can still get crafty and take a sizable chuck of traffic by thinking about the way people search.

Most experienced Google users understand that using general terms isnt going to get them where they want to go. Instead, people typically search for keyword phrases, for example, "how to blog," or "how to use a blog." As you can see in the results form keyword grader (see images below), the difference in difficulty drops from 96 for "blog" to 62 for "how to use a blog."
Blogging for Keywords

How to Use a Blog

In plain english, this means that there is actually a chance that I could rank for the keyword phrase "how to use a blog." Granted, it doesnt have a high search volume, but if you can rank for a dozen or more long tail keyword phrases related to the term "blog" youll end up with a significant amount of traffic.

2) Optimize your post around your keyword (Page Title, URL, H1)

The most important places to included keywords on any page of your site is in the page title, the URL and the H1 tag. This means that if youre trying to rank for "how to use a blog" you need to make sure that phrase in that order in all three places.

You also need to make sure that this phrase appears up front. A common mistake is for a company to put its name before its keywords in page titles. For example "HubSpot | How to use a Blog." Instead you would want "How to use a Blog | HubSpot."

Optimizing your title, url and h1
Depending on your blogging software there could be different ways of editing your page title, URL and H1. If your software doesnt allow you to make these changes, you need to think seriously about finding a new blogging platform.

3) Publish and watch the results

Finally, publish your post. Depending on how frequently Google and other search engines scan your site, it could take a few days or longer for your pages to be indexed and show up in Google. A simple tip to get your pages into search engines faster is to publish more often. When Google notices that a site is getting updated daily, it will scan the site more regularly.

Additionally, posting your RSS feed to FeedBurner, Twitter or Ping-o-Matic will also help your blog posts get indexed faster.

Finally, an experiment: If its been more than a few hours since this post has gone live, open up a new browser tab and do a quick Google search for "how to use a blog to increase organic traffic." Does this post show up on the front page? If so, do another search for "how to use a blog." Does it show up again?

What are Blogs What Can They be Used For

0

A blog is an online diary in which a person can digitally write his or her thoughts, opinions, ideas, rants, and so forth.  Blogs are created in a variety of different layouts, formats, designs, colors, and settings.  It all depends on the personal preferences of the owner.  One doesn’t have to be an expert at html to make his or her blog stand out—many blogging websites will offer users pre-made layouts, features, fonts, hyperlinks, and more.  Some blogging websites will even allow pictures, songs, and videos to be put up.

Bloggers sometimes choose to place audio on their blogs. This is referred to as audio blogging.  Likewise, blogs that consist of videos are referred to as video blogs.

Generally, a blog is set up with these features:

Title of the post.
Body (content) of the post.
Trackbacks or links to other blogs.
Permanent link of the post.
Comments left from readers.

One good thing about blogs are their overall layouts. Blogs are easy to navigate, unlike websites that contain many different pages.  Needless to say, blogs are easier to create and run than websites. With blogs, the html settings are usually already in place, so one doesn’t have to be an expert at webpage design to run a blog.

Anyone wanting to start his or her own blog can do so by signing up at a blogging website. There are many to choose from.  After signing up, one can become part of the blogging community. This means that a new member can read through other blogs to get ideas and leave comments. It’s a great way to make friends and contacts.

Blogs can be created for just about anything. They can be used for personal reflections of the owner, political debates, product reviews, celebrity news, advice giving, religious commentary, etc. They’re a great way for people to share their knowledge and expertise on pretty much anything.

Some bloggers use blogs as a way to advertise their business, while others use them for advertising their “main” website! The uses for blogs are countless. Anything that can be written and or talked about can be presented on a blog.

The blogging communities have become extremely popular over the last few years, and millions of people all around the world visit them daily. There’s no doubt that the blogs have taken over the internet, and they’re expected to grow even more over the next few years.

I use googles blogging software Blogger for all my blogs.

Which Is The Best Paid Online Survey Site

0

There are so many survey sites out there that can earn you some money! Im sure youve all heard that its a brilliant way to earn some extra money, but it would take up a huge amount of time to get through them all.

At first, it can seem a bit of a task or chore to sit down and do a few surveys. But if youre anything like me, and cant sit there and simply watch TV or Youtube etc and you need to be doing something with your hands, completing surveys is such a great thing to do because you are doing something productive.

So, I thought Id put together a post sharing my experience with four that Ive stuck with the longest and give my opinion on which is the best.

Background Image

Swagbucks

I have been using Swagbucks for the longest, probably around a year and a half; but I did have a few months without logging in during that time, so a year frequently. Swagbucks is probably the most interactive out of the four as it doesnt just have surveys. Also, Ive found that it is the website with the most surveys, which can be both a good and bad thing. There is a lot of opportunities to complete surveys suitable for you, but at the same time, sometimes it is hard to get through all of them each day - especially if you are signed up to other survey websites.

There are different sections of surveys on Swagbucks:
  • There are the gold surveys which, hinted by their name, do usually provide the biggest rewards. But they do tend to be few and far between.
  • On the same page as the gold surveys there is the daily surveys in the top right hand corner and each one earns 60/70 swagbucks. Sometimes you qualify for a few in a day and that soon adds up.
  • There are partner surveys, which isnt my favourite section I feel as though they are the cheaper version of the gold surveys as they can be quite time consuming without a large reward.
  • Then there is the peanut lab. This is probably my favourite section as the surveys tend to be quite quick to complete, you qualify for more and the rewards soon add up.
There is also a bunch of other ways to earn swagbucks: daily polls, watching videos on the site, playing games, searching the internet and even shopping (if you have the swagbutton installed).

In the time Ive been using Swagbucks, Ive earned £100 and still have a few swagbucks left over. Bearing in mind that I didnt use all the features to earn this amount, I just stuck to the surveys and also the fact that, due to me being the age I am as there can be a lot of surveys geared towards an older age, I didnt complete every single survey the website had to offer. Redeeming the reward was very simple and the money was in my paypal account within a few days.

Global Test Market

I only started using Global Test Market in around March this year, and within around 6 months I earned £80 with some market points still left over. Since redeeming the first reward, it took me around 2-3 weeks to earn another £20! Redeeming the reward was very simple and the money was in my paypal account within a few days.

On average, the typical survey on this website is worth around 30 market points. However, if you dont qualify for the survey, or you screen out, then you earn entries into the quarterly prize draw. A prize draw happens 4 times a year (sadly I havent won anything....yet). There is one first prize of £500, two second place prizes of £250 and then 100 prizes of £5.

One thing I really like about this website is that you get emails when there are new surveys, so you are actually reminded about doing them. Also, you arent bombarded with a bunch of surveys everyday. I typically got at least one a day but I dont think I ever got any more than 4.

Toluna

Im pretty sure I began using Toluna around November last year and have yet to redeem any rewards from it. But I will admit I havent used this website as frequently as the others, as it is the one I tend to forget about the most.

One thing I do like about this website is that the surveys are labelled before you click on them so you are made aware of the topic of it. For example, the categories are food, lifestyle, computing and internet, travel and business etc. Also you can interact with other users by creating your own polls, topically questions etc. However, Ive never really used this as I feel like it is a bit of a waste of time.

There is a pretty good range of surveys shared on Toluna and you can earn anywhere between 30 and 3500+ points. However, I found that I screened out of the most surveys on Toluna. As a result of this, Ive found it takes the longest to earn anything from it which probably explains my infrequent use of it.

Inbox Pounds

Inbox Pounds is the latest survey platform I have begun using. I began using this website around 2 months ago and Im pretty impressed with it.

Firstly, it is different from the other websites as you can physically see the amount of money you have earned and how much each survey is worth - which isnt always motivating as 19p doesnt really sound like a lot. But as with the others, there is a range on the incentives.

Also, I feel like its very similar to Swagbucks as, not only are there different sections, you can also earn money by completing tasks, using it as a search engine and playing games. However, like with Swagbucks, I only stuck to the surveys.

There are the peanut lab, opinion and clint surveys which are available to complete everyday. The peanut lab surveys can range between 19p and 38p but sometimes there are ones which are worth more. Clint surveys are also similar in terms of a varying reward. Then opinion surveys are all worth 30p.

On top of this, there are also additional surveys which get emailed to you and these are varying in rewards of 20p +. And finally, there is also the feature of paid emails which are, you guessed it, paid emails. They get emailed to you and all you have to do is simply click on confirm paid email and youve earned 1p. Some days a get around four paid emails and others I only get one. Yes, Im aware that 1p isnt much but it literally only takes a second to do and over time, on top of surveys, it will help build up.

I have yet to redeem any reward from Inbox Pounds so I cant report on the transaction, but using this website infrequently for the past 2 months has earned me £13 - so obviously if I had used it everyday or to its full extent that would probably be double or even triple.

What You Would Have To Do To Earn £5

This is just a rough estimate

Swagbucks - 5 daily surveys (60 each), 5 gold surveys (around 60 each), 20 peanut lab surveys (if they averaged out at around 30 swagbucks each) and 19 daily polls.

Global Test Market - around 7 surveys, worth around 30 market points each.

Toluna - Around 13 surveys if they averaged out at around 2000 each. Bearing in mind on Toluna you can only redeem a £35 paypal gift card.

Inbox Pounds - Around 12 peanut lab surveys (averaging at around 28p each), around 5 opinion surveys (30 each) and 14 paid emails. Bearing in mind you can only redeem money once youve earned a minimum of £20.

In Conclusion

Heres a nice little table to sum up my usage of the websites.

I would rank the websites as...

1. Global Test Market
2. Inbox Pounds
3. Swagbucks
4. Toluna

And finally, if you do decide to sign up to any of these websites then Id love if you could use these referral links:
Inbox Pounds
Swagbucks

Also Id really appreciate if you filled in my reader survey, it will only take a minute or 2, please click on the button below or here, it will only take a few minutes!

Do you use any of these or do you have another brilliant one to share?

School Holidays Expectations vs Reality

0

Come the end of this week and many schools and colleges will be having a 2 week break for Easter - I cannot wait! It gets to the last few days of term and we all get that feeling, the slump and complete lack of motivation. Any homework that is given out, is no longer rushed to do so that its out the way, as you have 2 whole weeks to do it. I also find that during that last week, I find myself getting quite fed up with getting dress. Anything I go to put on I look at with annoyance - as I feel as though Ive worn it loads and, the bigger factor, I cannot be bothered to get dressed. Im really looking forward to wearing lounge clothes practically everyday!

But, with the Easter holidays right around the corner, the list of things we need or want to do is gradually growing. At the beginning of every school holidays, we kind of have expectations of how we want them to go. But, after many school holidays throughout my education, Ive come to find that these expectations rarely turn into reality.

ExpectationsReality
• Get all homework done in the first few days so that it’s out the way and not rushed at the last minute.• Procrastinate, procrastinate, procrastinate.
• Revise for those important exams that are right around the corner.• Folders and notebooks remind in your bag until the day before returning to school or college and completely forgetting what it is you’re even learning about.
• Meet up with friends.• Don’t contact them for days…or weeks.
• Tidy your room, clear out unwanted things and do a bit of polishing and hovering.• Add to the mess.
• Exercise. With all that free time, you’ll be able to fit in a workout for sure• Remain in the same spot for hours on end.
• Do some of those Pinterest DIY’s or recipes and create a masterpiece.• Sit down and attempt to choose which ones you want to do, resulting in getting sucked into the world of Pinterest for hours.
• Go make up free.• Decide to ‘experiment’ and put everything you own on your face, then send amazing snap chats to friends and scare your family.
• Pamper yourself.• Look like a scruff for 90% of the time - days without washing your hair, same clothes 3 days in a row, sat with biscuit crumbs all down your front (maybe even in your hair).
• Spend time wisely. Yes, youve got time off, but make some of it productive.• Netflix. Film after film. Complete a whole TV series (or 2). And not leave your room the majority of the time, except for food.

Seeing as I have exams looming as soon as I go back to college I should probably, for once, follow through with the expectations.

Is there any expectations youd like to add? Are you someone who can relate to this?

Give A Special Gift Food Bank Donating

0

Giving love drawing of two people and hearts
Source
With less than a week till Christmas, the majority of people are rushing around for those last minute gifts, ordering the turkey, icing the cake and so on. But, not everyone will be doing this, Im not talking about those who are super organised and prepared, Im talking about those who wont be having a Christmas. Those who cant afford to buying those special gifts or enjoy a Christmas dinner.

Im not going to lie, this is the first year I have actually thought about those people and Ive shocked myself by this fact. Of course in the past I have donated to school food and toy collections, but Ive only ever given one item and never given a thought about the causes they are for. There are a lot of people who, like me, have turned almost a blind eye to the matter - Im not saying everyone of you is like this.

But this year, I actually took in the message. We where told at sixth form that there where children within the school who wouldnt be having a Christmas dinner this year, and most likely no Christmas at all and there would be a food collection to give these families the gift of a hot meal on Christmas day. This struck me. The fact that I was passing people everyday who where in that kind of situation - where their parents probably dont eat so their children can and even then the child may not be having a warming substantial meal.

(This may seem like Im going off topic slightly) The other day I was at my younger brothers primary school Christmas fair and there was a stall of tins and dried packaged goods. It was coming to the end of the fair and I noticed there was still a lot left on the stall, I was thinking of going over and asking if  they would possibly donate it to the food collection, I didnt. But I really wish I had done as they decided to auction the whole load off and I wish in a way pretty mad at myself for not simply asking.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give - winston churchill quote
Source
However, this sparked me to do something myself and I did briefly mention the idea in my list of things to do in the run up to Christmas (here). Sadly, I had missed the chance to donate to the food collection at sixth form, but instead I decided to drop some things off at the local food bank. I was in town the other day and had some money left in my pocket, so I popped into ASDA and picked up as much as I could with the £4 I had. It doesnt sound like a lot but I was surprised at how much I managed to get although I wish I could have gotten more.

I wanted to write this blog post to just share the message that Christmas is a time for giving, Im not demanding you go out and give ££££ worth of food away, you could help in other ways.

Yes you could spend a few quid and drop it off at your local food bank, they will be closing within the next few days for Christmas so if you miss it possibly do it in the new year. This is the stuff that food banks take as it has a long shelf life.
Trussel Trust food bank shopping list
To give you a rough idea off what I managed to get for just under £4 - jam, 5 tins of soup, 2 tins of veg, porridge oats, spaghetti and a pack of biscuits.

You could donate toys for less fortunate children, visit an old peoples home and spend time playing games with some of the elderly who may not have a family to go and spend Christmas with, or simply purchasing items from a charity shop. Every little bit helps and the more people that do give a small contribution in some way will create a lot of help for the charities, causes and people.

I dont plan on just keeping this message for around Christmas time as it is important all year round.
Luke Cameron is a guy a heard about on Good Morning Britain and I think what he has done this past year is brilliant. Each day in 2014 he has done a good deed! Ill leave the link to his blog so you can read about it if youd like - The Good Deed Diary.

How To Make A Successful Blog 5 Easy Steps

0

How to make a successful blog and sell a lot of stuff online? I received this question from a loyal reader a few days ago and today I will share a few helpful tips.

The first thing when it comes to making a successful blog is to think about a niche that is both profitable and does not have too much competition. Your niche (what you blog about) has to be something people are interested in and willing to spend money on.At the same time, your niche must have relatively small competition to make it easier for you to get a decent ranking in the search engines. If you just start blogging about things you like, there is a chance that the competition is too high and you will never earn any money.
Here is a great video I found on YouTube showing how to choose a profitable niche:
When you have picked a profitable niche with relatively low competition, the next step is to choose a domain name for your new blog. The best place to get a domain is GoDaddy.com.It is very important to choose a domain name that is a top level domain (.com, .net or .org) and if possible a direct match.By direct match I mean a domain name that matches your best keywords and does not have any other words in it.This makes it a lot easier to rank in the search engines.
After you have your domain name, you will also need a hosting account where all your blog files will be stored.I personally use a blog hosting service called Hostgator. They allow you to host an unlimited amount of sites for less than $10 per month.Their service is great, easy to use and I especially like their online help. You can just contact them from your admin area and they will help you with setting up your blog and everything that has to do with hosting.
The nest thing when it comes to how to make a successful blog is of course your content. The content is what makes search engines index your blog and great content drives people to your blog again and again. When you write excellent content that people finds useful, they will send it to social sites and in return you will get even more traffic.
Many people think only about how to make as much money as possible.I think this is the wrong approach, we need to think how to help people solve their problems.A lot of people want to know how to do something or find a cure for something. If you can provide the information people are looking for, then you are on your way to a highly successful blog.
Another thing when it comes to make a successful blog is link building. You need to build links to your blog from other sites, search engines look at the quality of links coming to your site and use that to determine how high your blog should be ranked. How many links that point to your site is just one criteria, quality content is the most important thing.
The last thing when it comes to making a successful blog is making an income from it.Like I mentioned before, you need to think about helping people. Instead of slapping your blog full of ads to different products (too many ads makes your blog look cluttered and ugly), choose one high quality affiliate product.
Your reputation is on the line, you cannot afford to sell a crappy product. You can either choose a high quality affiliate product from Commission Junction, Share A Sale or some other site, or you can create your very own product to sell.Information sells really well online and as a vendor it is the best possible thing to sell.No need for a ware house because people can download your product directly after payment.

Favourite YouTubers

0

As many of you may probably know, the world of YouTube is blowing up. I mean a few years ago when I subscribed to my first channel, JacksGap, YouTubers where just random people who posted videos on the internet and where only known on the internet. I know there are exceptions. But over the past year that has all been changing, weve had musicians releasing singles and EPs, books being published, make-up ranges being launched and new radio show hosts. And I can happily say that I have been able to watch this progression and those who have grown to achieve great things. Id just like to congratulate all the YouTubers out there, theres too many to name, on the things they have achieved.

favourite youtubers. cambria joy, breelovesbeauty, breelovesvlogs. sprinkle of glitter, sprinkle of chatter, louise pentland, bubz beauty, bubz vlogs

I thought Id write this blog post to share with you 3 of my favourite YouTubers who arent necessarily the biggest and most well known. Well the first one you probably will of heard of as she is also a blogger - Sprinkle of Glitter. I love her! She has such a contagious happiness about her, I mean whoever she is with seems to end up smiling and laughing and I am doing the same thing whilst watching her videos. But at the same time she is just so true and down to earth. If shes upset or having a bad day, it doesnt matter that she doesnt share the things that have happened I respect peoples privacy, but she turns those bad things into a positive thing. She looks at it from a different perspective and shares with us something she has learnt. Id class her as a kind of mother figure - someone who is caring, cheers you up and tells you that though not everything is good in life, always try to stay positive.

Next, is a YouTuber who I began watching 4 years ago, before I even signed up to YouTube - Bubzbeauty. Im not sure how well known she is. I love her skin and hair care videos, Ive learnt so much through her beauty videos - it was Bubz who first introduced me to taking care of my skin and I thank her so much for the many DIY beauty videos that actually work! She really explains why the ingredients and what you are doing is beneficial. I definitely recommend you check some out and try a few. About a year ago I discovered her vlogging channel and have never missed a video! A daily dose of happiness is the tagline for her vlogs and it is completely true. I love the way she edits them so that its over a few days in one, unlike many other vlogging channels that can get a little tedious. She small talks about the little things in life she does throughout the vlogs are so uplifting. Her bubbly personality never fails to cheer me up. She has a nice soothing calm tone and shows how thankful for things she is. Like wise with Louise, she is true and down to earth and isnt afraid to show you that there are ups and downs in life but the good will always return. I just feel so special as well to have seen her life change so much over the past year from getting married to having baby Isaac - who is just adorable.

Last but not least is breelovesbeauty, like the other 2, I enjoy watching her vlogs - but just that little bit more. I only discovered Cambria a year ago and I am so thankful I did! She is so inspiring, the video where she spoke about her eating disorder, how she overcome it and how she motivated herself to live a healthier lifestyle - struck me. I wasnt in the best place around this time and when I was going back through her videos and came across this that I realised how we never see the full person and personalities of YouTubers, famous people etc and that everybody gos through struggles. And through Cambria sharing this video it helped me lift myself up before I almost got to deep. Not only that, but she inspired and motivated me to start the journey to living a healthier lifestyle. Which took me a while. But she knows what she is talking about in her healthy food videos, unlike a lot of beauty gurus out there. A recent addition to her channel is her bible study series and I know that it wont appeal to everyone but since watching her vlogs and watching how she approaches life, the way she tries to stay positive has really opened me up to learning more about the bible and Christianity. I did used to go to church up to the age of 5/6, but sadly cant remember much - so I look forward to watching this series.

DIY Sewn Saying Decoration

0

Recipe For Life : pinch of fun, spoonful of laughter, cup of love, measure of kindness, mixed together with a bit of humour.

A good few months ago, maybe even a year, I was browsing on Dunelms website and came across this lovely saying simply sewn onto some fabric. It was really cute and simple so I saved the image of it in one of my folders, as a reminder to go to a store and pick it up. But I forget about it, until the other week whilst browsing through my folders on my laptop and cleaning them up a bit, I came across it. But instead of checking whether they still stock the item, I decided to have a go at making it myself - I was in the mood for doing some sewing.

So I rummaged through my mums sewing box and found some spare fabric, spent a good 15 minutes deciding on the colours of thread and got to work. It really isnt a difficult DIY to do! The hardest part for me was trying to put it in the frame without the fabric all wrinkling (I didnt do to bad - I hope). But once you get into the rhythm with the sewing pattern, its so relaxing to sit back with a good film or TV show on and just sew away.

You Will Need:

  • A picture frame
  • Fabric (enough to fit the measurements of the picture frame)
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pen
  • Needle
  • Extra decorations such as buttons
  • Needle thread (it doesnt effect the DIY if you dont have one, it just makes threading the needle so much quicker and easier)

Instructions:

1. Measure the dimensions of your picture frame, then draw them out on the fabric - adding on an extra 1-2 cm.

2. Next, write out the saying on a piece of paper in the way you want it to look so that you dont make any mistakes on the fabric. Then copy it onto the fabric.

3. Cut the piece of fabric out.

4. Begin sewing. I used a loop the loop pattern (shown above) - Feed the needle threw the fabric (you want to make sure the knot in the thread will always be on the back of the fabric), then backtrack and thread the needle threw to the back, next bring the needle back threw but further along then were it came threw last time, then repeat by going to the point you last came threw.

5. Sew on any decorations, frame it and hang it and you are done!

I find I cant just sit and watch TV, I need to be doing something with my hands - so sewing is the perfect thing. Do you enjoy sewing?
